The Kýma sweater begins with a simple cast-on using DK weight yarn, there is no ribbing which creates an elegant and open neckline. We then knit, top down and in the round creating a raglan yoke which will eventually be divided and knitted flat to create the tops of each sleeve.
The stitches are then picked up across the front, from left to right, cuff to cuff. The use of increases then shapes the ruffled lower half of the sweater where you will begin to see the effect of the lace weight section.
The use of increases shapes the ruffled lower half of the sweater and German short rows are used to shape the underarms, as you knit you will begin to see the ruffles and billowing take shape. This technique is then repeated for the back, before finally joining all the stitches to work in the round.
The finishing touches include picking up the stitches around the cuff and working in the round using your chosen DK and creating the lovely DK cord for the hem that can be used to shape your Kýma sweater, wear it loose and floaty or pull it tight for a puff ball effect.
We will be releasing kits to coincide with the pattern, make sure you stay in the loop by checking out Instagram and those of you signed up to the newsletter are in for an exclusive treat.
Layla has selected some unique colour combinations for these exclusive kits, some of which you may have spotted on our Instagram page. We can't wait to share these with you and see them out in the wild!
Our most luxurious kit will be a combination of Classic DK and Veranita, our cashmere lace weight base. These two yarns are the perfect companions for one another and create a luxury sweater for those summer evenings after the sun has gone down.
For those of you that don't fancy the Veranita kit or if you are a lover of Mohair, we will also be releasing Classic DK and Kid Silk Mohair kit options.
Keep your eyes peeled for the release of the KÝMA SWEATER PATTERN and the KÝMA SWEATER KITS.
